Women in the
Biblical Tradition
The Women in the Biblical Tradition Home page was created for the course, Women in the Biblical Tradition, offered at
Appalachian State University.
Accoring to the home page of the site, the course was "designed
to "introduce and analyze some of the stories of and laws about women in the Hebrew Bible, Christian
Scripture and Apocrypha. Also, it "will explore both the Ancient Near Eastern background of these texts, including how goddess
traditions relate to the understanding of God in these texts, as well as how these texts continue to have an impact on our
contemporary secular and sacred communities." Furthermore, it takes a "methodological approach to the texts favored by
feminist and womanist biblical critics and how women are changing the discipline of biblical studies." (Syllabus)
This site has good information from student projects as well as a large number of links to other sites relevant to the subject of women and Christianity.
