Please contact me to let me know whether or not you have nuts of any kind, bananas and latex at the event. And please tell me the truth about whether or not you have those items at your event so I know whether or not I can come.

Hi, will your event be free of nuts, latex and bananas? I'm severely allergic to all three. Please be honest and tell me whether or not those foods will be served at the event. I am wondering because I am curious about this event.

Hi Mike, We worked together at Mervyns many moons ago. Then you helped me get hired as a contractor at PacBell. I found your website about Amy and your family 7 or 8 years ago. Now I just want to say hello. I'm still in Berkeley. I've had quite a working life with many opportunities and types of jobs, but no real "career". I remember you asking me about prayer beads long ago and I see you still make them, use them and contemplate them. Just want you to know I chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo with SGI-US. Please let me recommend it to you. Thinking of you and your family. Randi

Hi, Mike, It's Cathy. I am so sorry to hear about what happened to Amy and Lisa. I'm glad you have Lisa to bring you joy and hugs. Please extend my sympathy to Jean, as well. Last I knew (July, 1982) you were living in California. I had no idea that you have been dealing with such sadness since we last spoke. I'm glad you have your creativity as an outlet to share your feelings and to help with healing. I will be thinking of you and Jean, particularly as Mother's Day and Father's Day approach. Take care, okay? Email me if you would be interested in catching up. I would love to purchase a copy of your CD for MADD. Fondly, Cathy

I was looking over this site feeling kinda sad that something like this had to happen to you or to any parent. I have two kids and recently I had a car accident that involved me and my kids being rear ended, not by a drunk driver, but by a girl who wasnt paying any attention to what was in frount of her. I was stopped and was waiting for oncomming traffic to clear so I can make a left turn when a 20 year old plowed in to me. thankfully my kids were not hurt but I was hurt. not badly though. but, she might has well been drunk because she didnt even break for me, she just hit me full force doing I believe,at least, 30 to 40 mph. I wish people who drive should watch the road and pay attention. Also, people should think about their way of getting home if they are going out to a bar. I drink occationally and when I am going out with friends or family I always ask everyone how they're getting home if they drink. i always have someone there to drive me home if I have a drink. I just want to thank you for sharing your story about you daughters. just one more thing, I am very disgusted that people would put spam mail on this website. that is totally DISRESPECTFULL!!!!!!! IT NEEDS TO STOP!!!! thanks, Angela.

A rose once grew where all could see, sheltered beside a garden wall. And as the days passed swiftly by, it spread its brances straight and tall. One day a beam of light shone through, a crevice that had opened wide, The rose bent gently toward its wearmth, then passed beyond to the other side. Now you who deeply feel it's loss, be comforted, the rose blooms there, its beauty even greater now, nurtured by God's own loving care. -unknown. Bless your family, you're in our prayers.

Last night I operated a vehicle for the first time under the influence of alcohol, and I woke up today with a knot in my stomach from guilt. So tonight I decided to look online for stories that would make me feel worse about what I did, so I will remember it, and NEVER do it again. I will never do it again, I promise you, and your beautiful little angel, that I will never do that again. Your loss, and the impact that one stupid drunk driver did to your family is tearing me apart, and I hope that from anything you have gained from this website, know that now, YOU have prevented me from ever endangering myself, or anyone else again. Thank you, and I am so sorry for your loss. Your little girl was an amazing kid, and I know that you must have been an amazing parent in turn.

I was organizing some CDs and I decided to listen to a few of the songs on your disc, "I Miss Your Smile". I have not attended a Compassionate Friends meeting for a few months. I must return soon. Singing my daughter, Sarah, to sleep was one of the great pleasures of my life. It's why I learned to play the guitar. I listened to the songs and looked at the picture of Amy and just naturally imagined her as a happy, energetic, imaginative, loving eight-year-old wonderful child. These reveries are important to us lost parents. It's a time to get together with our love for our children and our feelings of how good and right is that love. Our daughters are friends in our love.

It's Christmas. 12:12am. Returned from Church and heard a wonderful quote by Howard Thurman, about "The Work of Christmas". Found a few of his wonderful poems on this site, which lead to read about Amy and Lisa, and the committment their parents have made to MADD. What a tragedy. My heart goes out to you. What beautiful girls. I don't often find myself at a site like this, but felt drawn to it. I hope in some small way, your family's experience will touch my life. I know I won't negotiate the next time my 50 pound 9 year old fights me on sitting in a booster seat in the car. We have two daughters also, who are 9 and 12. I don't need to be reminded of how precious they are. But I am again, and it's a good thing. I will hold on to them extra tight tomorrow morning. Peace, Lori

An extremely powerful, and uplifting tribute to Amy and Lisa. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Having lost my daughter Ashley 30 months ago, I can understand your pain. Your website is a true celebration of Amy's life and clearly makes us "feel" the struggles that Lisa must be going through in her rehab work. I was listening to WCSX (94.7) Saturday morning (December 4, 1999) when I first heard the story about Amy. Even though over a year after the loss of your daughter, reading your story and what happened brought me to tears. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure that Amy was a wonderful daughter and what a terrible way to lose a child. I too, have three daughters, although grown, I would be devastated if this happened to them. God Bless You and keep you out of harms way. Susan :-)

A friend of ours pointed out your web page, and I am very moved and impressed by what you have here. Our 6-year-old daughter (our only child) was killed in 1990, so we have endured many of the same experiences that you have. The bereaved parent support group we attended (a local one in Troy, not Compassionate Friends) was a big help. The driver who ran over Pamela (who was sitting with my wife far off the highway where our disabled car was parked on the shoulder) was apparently not drunk, but he had no right to be driving, since his license had been suspended. Apparently he had had about ten speeding tickets and several "accidents" in the previous five years, and according to witnesses, he was speeding when he tried to pass a car by driving onto the shoulder, then went up the embankment and hit Pamela (and Suzanne, who was less seriously injured). Pamela died about 24 hours later. This man was a priest, on his way from Warren to Bay City, expecting to make it in about an hour. He pled no contest to mansluaghter, was sentenced to 2-15 years, served a brief time in prison and then a few years more on electronic tether. Eventually he was paroled and has since apparently disappeared. As you probably know, this Friday (10/1/99) a new law takes effect, which we like to call Pamela's law, although the general public probably associates it more with the Detroit Red Wings. We went to Lansing last year and testified before the House Judiciary Committee in favor of this law, with which you are no doubt very familiar. It increases the criminal penalties for people convicted of causing death or serious injury when driving either drunk or on a suspended license. It also makes it easier for the authorities to stop such drivers from using their cars, and it puts some crimimal responsibility on the owners of such cars as well (in our case, this would be the church at which the priest worked). We are pleased with this law and hope that maybe it will help prevent in the future the horrible things that happened to Pamela, Lisa, and Amy. We donated a sculpture of a tortoise to the Detroit Zoo in Pamela's memory (it's outside the reptile house). Further details are available near the bottom of my personal web page (http://www.oakland.edu/~grossman). Thanks for putting your pages on the Internet, and please ac

I have been following your website since September. Although I lost my daughter under different circumstances, I know the pain in your hearts can be overwhelming at times. God bless your family for opening up your life and letting us share it with you. You have a lot of friends here in California - let us know when you come out this way again. I wish you peaceful days and nights.

My daughter and a friend worked last summer as "Volunteens" at Northern MI Hospital. Her friend Kali worked in ICU and we heard about your daughters from her. Although we did not know you or your daughters we felt great sadness and also anger at the man responsible. We also prayed for your children. I know I cannot say anything to ease your pain but you should know that many you do not even know shared in a very small way the sadness of your tragedy.

Hi Mike, I have felt so bad about what has happened to your family that I haven't been able to put in to words the sympathy I feel for you and Jean. I've been reading your stories and updates and I am amazed with your strength! I'm sure writing about it, helps. I understand that you were in the area for the holidays. I hope you and your family had a nice one under the circumstances. Happy New Year!! Like you, I have two daughters and I believe that is why I am taking the news so hard. My heart goes out to children in general, but to know that this happened to such nice people hurts so bad. Excuse me...see, I am still trying to caught my breath as I right this letter (long over due). Thank you for sharing your story, I only hope that we all learn from your experience. Stay strong and keep up the good work. May the lord continue to hold you up! Vicki

I just visited your site, and I have no words to say that you have not already heard. But I wil lsay that as a young single woman I must admit that while I have driven drunk, I have been in a car with someone who has, many times. It wasn't until recently that it actually occurred to me that what I have done for so many years is just as bad as getting behind the wheel myself. You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I know now that I will do my part in preventing such a tragedy happening again.

Because of what you have experienced I no longer take any moment for granted. I savor every minute I spend with my children. Your pain is so great I couldn't imagine carrying on. God has given you so much strength, We pray for you all, to continue on.

As parents of two daughters, Becci and Kimmi, it is very, very difficult to imagine what you have gone through. You are very often in our prayers and thoughts. We are members of FUMC. God will continue to be with you.
